Running for the Forgotten
Turning movement into meals, dignity, and direct support—one step at a time.
Move4Hope began in 2021, when I ran the Terry Fox Challenge to raise money for cancer research. Over 200+ days, I covered the same distance Terry did—step for step. The idea was simple: use movement to support people in need.
Before that, I’d raised funds for heart disease and food insecurity through bike tours, marathons, and triathlons. Movement was always the method. Giving was always the purpose.
But over the last two years, life hit hard. I needed time to heal—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. And slowly, I did.
The deeper I healed, the more I realized I wasn’t done moving—or giving.
I started hiking again. Then running. I signed up for a 52 km ultra and planned a long solo run along the lake. More are unfolding. Some are official races. Others I’ll do alone or with a small crew. But each one has a purpose. Each one is an offering.
At first, I reached out to a few organizations to partner.
One kept postponing. Two never responded.
And that’s when it hit me:
Why not just make this mine?
No more waiting. No more asking.
Just direct action. Just real help.
That same week, a fresh food box from Eat Impact landed at my door. And something clicked:
What if this box could go to someone in an encampment?
A struggling student?
A family that needs it now—not later?
That’s when Move4Hope was reborn.
What Move4Hope Is Now
Move4Hope is no longer tied to a charity.
It’s a personal mission—and a community-powered project.
I raise funds through endurance running and movement-based events.
That money goes toward buying and delivering:
Fresh fruits, vegetables, and pantry staples
Toothpaste, soap, socks, underwear, and hygiene items
Small, meaningful essentials from local shops and dollar stores
I will distribute these goods directly to folks in need through mutual aid networks I trust—expanding those relationships slowly and respectfully.
No overhead. No big systems.
Just movement, food, and care—where it’s needed.
The First Runs
August 9: The Middle Path 52K
October: Whitby to Toronto Run
These aren’t races.
They’re reminders—that we can move, we can help, and we are connected.
This is movement as medicine—for the body, the heart, and the collective.
The First Goal
Our first fundraising goal is simple:
Secure enough support to consistently provide four boxes of fresh produce each week—along with hygiene supplies, socks, and warm clothing.
Every dollar raised goes directly to that.
Every run pushes it forward.
If this mission speaks to you—walk with me.
Support in whatever way you can.
Because Move4Hope is just getting started.
